From London to Sydney, via The Gambia, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Kenya, it is not surprising that one of the most significant early influences on Fiona’s work is her travel experience.
Once settled in Sydney, subsequent frequent visits throughout Asia and America helped frame a broader and more distinctive character to her work. A strong affinity to India and China, combined with a passion for classical English design has become her underlying premise, coupled with a sensibility that is contemporary and functional.
Fiona founded Wigwam Design in 2015 focusing on design and decoration projects for the residential market. Her many assignments have included both small spaces through to major renovations of complete residences including apartments and houses, inside and out. Her seasoned spatial design skills and keen eye for colour, pattern and texture are evident in all her projects.
Fiona believes that everyone is unique, and the home should reflect that individuality. The look and feel of a home should blend seamlessly with the lifestyle of the clients and not dictate how one should live.
In addition to her creative business, Fiona is a highly regarded educator in the design industry and teaches various classes throughout Sydney including Interior Design, Colour & Design, Property Styling for Living & Selling, and a particular passion of hers, 20th Century History of Interiors.
Fiona received her academic training in Art Foundation including the History of Design, followed by Interior Design and Surface Design in the UK and Australia. Her studies were rewarded by ‘Awards for Excellence’ at various points of her education.
